Celebrating the Best of Yorkshire Businesses: A Local Gift Guide

With the release of the new Wuthering Heights film, Yorkshire is once again taking centre stage - its landscapes, creativity and unmistakable character captivating audiences far beyond the county. But Yorkshire’s magic isn’t only found on windswept moors; it lives in its independent businesses, makers and creatives who pour heart, skill and heritage into what they do every day.

Inspired by this renewed spotlight, we’ve put together a Yorkshire gift guide celebrating some of our favourite local businesses (mainly in Leeds) - from thoughtful gifts and delicious food to experiences worth travelling for. These are the independents we love, the places we return to, and the brands that make shopping local feel genuinely special.

Treat Them to a Day Out

Knaresborough Waterside

Few places feel quite as charming as Knaresborough. With its dramatic viaduct towering over the River Nidd, pastel-painted houses and gently winding waterside paths, it’s the definition of a quintessential Yorkshire day out.

Start by strolling along the river, stopping at one of the many cafés dotted along the waterside for coffee or lunch. Ice cream is non-negotiable here - there are plenty of excellent local spots perfect for a slow wander with a cone in hand. For something a little more playful, hire a rowing boat and drift beneath the viaduct, soaking up one of Yorkshire’s most photographed views from the water itself.

It’s relaxed, picturesque and ideal for all ages - the kind of place where time slows down and the simple pleasures take centre stage. It's no wonder we chose our office space to be in this wonderful town!

Wensleydale Creamery

For food lovers, a visit to the Wensleydale Creamery in Hawes makes for a brilliant Yorkshire experience. Set in the heart of the Dales, it’s a celebration of one of the county’s most iconic foods - and a destination in its own right.

Here you can learn about the history of Wensleydale cheese, watch it being made, and of course enjoy generous tastings. From classic crumbly Wensleydale to flavoured varieties, there’s something to suit every palate. The on-site shop is perfect for picking up edible gifts, while the café serves comforting, well-done food that pairs beautifully with a slice (or two) of cheese.

Surrounded by rolling countryside, it’s easy to turn a visit into a full day out - combining good food, local heritage and a proper taste of Yorkshire.
